This is the second Cryptic Killers game I've played and I enjoyed sifting through all the evidence. The evidence pack is varied and realistic, and really makes for an immersive experience. This is perhaps a personal gripe, but I found that the hardest part of the game was actually finding the password to access the online content, which I also remember being tricky in the other Cryptic Killers game I played. It took such a long time to figure it out and it threw us off track before we'd even started, which we found frustrating. Additionally, this may be intentional, but the evidence inventory list doesn't include the items of online evidence, so we didn't realise there was additional evidence to uncover until after we'd actually worked out who the killer was (and got it correct). Therefore, this online evidence didn't end up being of any use, as we were able to deduce the killer without it. On a similar note, once we'd done our first read through all the evidence, it seemed obvious to me who the killer was, mainly because their cinema alibi wasn't corroborated, which immediately raised suspicion. We cross-referenced with other evidence and were satisfied that this suspect was the killer before we'd even established motives and alibis for all suspects. For this reason, the 4.5 difficulty rating seemed too high and it didn't feel as satisfying to solve as we were hoping for. Still, we enjoyed playing and will most likely purchase another one to try!
Very entertaining for a full evening. However, the timings were vague and misleading and seemed to point us to look in a different direction. More confusing when considering that some very specific times were given so general assumption would be that this would be consistent across all statements. Before submitting our answer, it was clear that we had deducted all of the key information (as directed by the hints) so it did feel like one poorly written piece of information was what was confusing us rather than any lapses in our own judgement. Was a bit frustrating considering we had managed to complete full timelines in reference to each character involved and were just left stumped as to who the murderer could actually be; it ended up being a process of elimination rather than a eureka moment.
Absolutely brilliant, we played it as a family on a log cabin holiday, we got so excited when we would het a clue or piece together parts of the puzzle. Going to get another as thia was so much fun.
Makes no sense, doesn’t explain other deaths
This was a very interesting thing to get into (especially if your wanting to be an investigator).Once you get into this you cannot make yourself stop, Even thought it takes some time to figure out the killer I could do it all day. I 100% recommend buying one of these if your with your friends or with family
